Modern-Shed customers often use their new shed as a retreat from the home, sometimes creating work spaces, such as art studios, home offices or writing rooms.

Less often do we hear of customers carving out a different kind of space — a Modern-Shed home fitness center, but the options are endless. We’ve had customers create Modern-Shed yoga studios, Modern-Shed gyms and even a Modern-Shed sauna and steam room!

Decorating a Modern-Shed fitness space would seem easy, but put careful thought into how you want to decorate your space. Your Modern-Shed fitness studio should be a place where you WANT to work out!

Here are some ways that our customers dressed up (or dressed down) their Modern-Sheds.

One Modern-Shed client turned half of his 12' by 26' shed into a ballet studio for his daughter.

Palo Alto podiatrist Amol Saxena created a home fitness gym AND a ballet studio for his daughter out of his Modern-Shed fitness space.

Decorating in the ballet studio is kept to a minimal, with a simple wall mirror and bar to help his daughter perfect her moves.

You can find ideas for decorating home gyms at Lowe’s, which also sells wall mirrors.

Best Buy is one of the premier places to purchase a home stereo and Amazon sells ballet bars you can mount.

As for fitness equipment in a Modern-Shed home gym, Precor Home Fitness offers lots of options to meet whatever workout goals you have.

Don’t forget to buy a fan to keep you cool while you sweat. WalMart has affordable choices, as do many Big Box stores.

We also like the idea of mounting a TV to keep you distracted and/or motivated. Check out  options at Best Buy.

Switching gears a bit, some might use their Modern-Shed as a space for meditation, yoga or Pilates, like this client:

modernshedyogastudio1Modern-Sheds make lovely yoga studios, with their ability to provide lots of warmth and light to a space.

Keep your Modern-Shed yoga studio simple with yoga mats (we like Gaiam) and maybe some inspirational meditative quotes from specialty vendors on Etsy, like Heartfulart.

Modern-Sheds can be a meditative space.

To keep your Modern-Shed a quiet, meditative place, shop for statues of the Buddha at local stores that specialize in selling yoga, meditation and other cultural items (Amazon also works).

And don’t forget to keep the space cozy with pillow poufs or floor cushions (World Market has fantastic options) and meditation benches. We like this Hugger Mugger bench at Yoga Outlet.

Now, after all that yoga or ballet or treadmill running, you’ll definitely be in need of a shower.

While the benefits of a Modern-Shed are such that you’re never that far from your own home shower, why not install a shower in your Modern-Shed?

Better yet, rinse off in an outdoor shower, after relaxing in your Modern-Shed sauna and steam room! This Bay Area Modern-Shed sauna was installed earlier this year, and more gorgeous photos can be found at www.houzz.com/projects/654962/bay-area-ca-modern-sauna.

Whatever you decide to do with your Modern-Shed fitness space, don’t hesitate to contact Modern-Shed for ideas on how to install, decorate and create the space of your dreams.
