Customer Jeff D of Western Washington has a vacation home east of the mountains with a fantastic view of the Columbia River. His desire was to have a “Zen” space where there would be no technology brought in. In other words, no cell phones, tablets, or computers; just a place to read, reflect, meditate, enjoy the view and maybe some light workouts.
He remembered seeing one of Modern Shed’s structures at a trade show many years ago in Seattle. He did an online search for a Modern Shed to find us. Jeff worked with our designer, Jeff Bergerson, to come up with the perfect solution. The challenging part was the exact spot the client wanted to place the shed. Their home sits high above the Columbia and the desired location was well below the house on a bit of a “ledge” in the cliff. Jeff B, our designer, gave the client, Jeff D, thoughtful and well thought out design advice. "Having a real person to work with was very helpful."
Together with an interior designer, all the final details and touches were decided upon. Dave W, Modern Shed’s Northwest Authorized Installer, did a site visit and, although the site was a bit precarious, decided to take on the challenge. Having over 45 years of building experience, gave him the expertise to install the Modern Shed where the client desired.
As you can see from the photos, the client wanted a lot of glass/windows to take in the stunning views. Modern Shed’s are engineered so the entire front wall can be glass which was ideal for this location. All in all, the installation took two weeks; one for the extensive groundwork and the other for the shed and deck installation. When asked what friends and family think of the new space, he said, “They absolutely love it!” How could you not. In the client’s words: “Overall, it was a very smooth experience, and I am impressed with the product itself.”
